BIG DANCE 2012
DARE DANCE Leads Cumbria in BIG DANCE 2012 NW Link Up as part of Cultural Olympiad programme

Big Dance is the U.K's biggest ever celebration of dance and was one of the highlights of London 2012 Festival, the culmination of the Cultural Olympiad. BIG DANCE North West Link Up Project 2012  linked up all the Boroughs in the North West. 25 artists from each county  worked with Choreographic Consultant Jeanefer Jean Charles and Artistic Director Lisi Perry to create a choreographic structure that they  developed with 50 participants each in different boroughs of the North West. All 1200 participants and artists came together in a grand finale event on 15 July 2012 in Liverpool One.

DARE DANCE was the Cumbria lead partner working with Merseyside Dance Initiative, Ludus Dance and Dance Initiative Greater Manchester to roll out the Big Dance 2012 programme in all the 5 counties.  DARE led Cumbria in performances at Walney Festival, Carlisle Torch Relay event and Liverpool One.  Big Dance was the first collaborative project embracing Cumbria within the region and it integrated the Dance Artists across the NW through additional opportunities such as performing in London and The Lowry.
